Capturing the essence of life through the colorful innocence of animals is what brings Linda Israel such joy. It’s also what inspires her as an artist. Linda’s natural connection to the Earth is motivated by the beauty, and spark filled energy of being alive. “Animals are so in the moment, simple and direct. They are pure consciousness”. Linda paints the peaceful, unconditional and simple souls of animals in heart. Linda has been inspired since she was just 3 years old, when she first started drawing animals. Now, Linda uses art to reveal herself through animals, expressing the passion and energy of life. Using a pallet of vibrant colors, Linda approaches her portraits like the subjects themselves —playfully uninhibited. Painting on a large canvas, the use of color, light and glazing of acrylic creates a deep connection to Self, recognizing the beauty of this Earth. Linda believes that through art, human growth can be expressed and seen. It is a unique visual language of the feelings of the world around us. She finds it no accident that animals are drawn to her. Linda studied painting at the University of Colorado-Boulder before moving to New York to study interior design. While in school, Linda has painted numerous murals for private businesses. She has been in the design industry for more than 20 years and is a former editor of House Beautiful Magazine. But it wasn’t until four years ago that Linda turned her focus more completely to her art. She paints the animals she loves so much. Linda has always enjoyed time observing animal behaviors and their interactions. Some years ago she helped to start Olympic Wildlife Rescue Center in Olympia, WA., where she cared for injured and orphaned animals. Linda is a free-spirited artist with a wild sense of color. Linda lives both in Denver and Grand Lake, CO with her husband and their two dogs. They share four children and four grandchildren. |
